ADMINISTRATION OF ESTATES AND TRUSTS
I serve as counsel to executors and trustees in handling the many required notices, court filings, accountings, and tax returns required following a death, or creation of a trust during one’s lifetime. I make certain these details are handled professionally to the benefit of the relevant estate or trust. Estate administration is one of my favorite areas of practice as I feel I can help families move through what might be one of the more difficult periods of their lives.
Incentive to Promptly Get Started
It is important to promptly begin to administer the estate. Pennsylvania law provides a significant incentive to do so. In fact, there is a discount of 5 percent of the inheritance tax paid or the tax due, whichever is less, when the inheritance tax payment is made within three months of the date of death.
Common Question
Is life insurance subject to PA inheritance tax?
No. Life insurance on the life of the decedent is not taxable in the estate of the decedent. In addition, the proceeds are not taxable according Pennsylvania income tax law.
